SIBERIAN COMPONENT IN RUSSIA’S IMAGE (BY THE MATERIAL OF E. E. DWINGER’S MEMOIRS)

Banman Polina Pavlovna
North Caucasus Federal University

Abstract. On the basis of E. E. Dwinger’s memoirs "Die Armee hinter Stacheldraht" (1929) the paper examines the problem of Siberian component of Russia’s image in the period of the First World War. Special attention is paid to studying geographical and political-ideological components of Siberia’s image. Being ego-document of the time, the analyzed text is included into the Siberian mega-text clearly representing the negative perception of both Siberia and Russia on the whole. Textual representations from the memoirs justify the existence of stereotyped conceptions of Siberia and Russia.
