VOCABULARY OF BUDDHIST COSMOLOGY IN THE TUVAN LANGUAGE

Abstract. The article considers the Tuvan lexemes, representing the notions of Buddhist cosmology. Attention is paid to the lexico-semantic, comparative analysis of this lexico-semantic group, to the phonetic transformation of the borrowed terms. The source languages for the foreign vocabulary are revealed. As a result, the conclusion is drawn that the terms of Buddhist cosmology function in the modern Tuvan language. There are a lot of borrowings among them. Some terms have polysemy in the Tuvan language and are mentioned in shamanic chants as well as in the Buddhist discourse.
