Abstract. The article provides a component analysis of English processual phraseological units (PU) in a literary text and focuses on their role in the creation of literary images. The paper describes the variability of notional and auxiliary components in the structure of the phraseological unit and introduces the classification of components mutual dependence. In particular, the author considers constant, constant-transient, constant-variational, constant-transient-variational and transformational dependence. The paper identifies the motives for the author’s transformations of PU components in the novel "Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children" by Ransom Riggs.
