Abstract. The article investigates the ways of female images classification in F. Schiller’s dramas in the western scientific works. It is ascertained that at the early stage, researchers used the descriptive method of the material studying. The division of the characters into groups was not performed. In later studies of the XX-XXI centuries, the characters are classified according to their qualities, as well as on the basis of Schiller’s philosophical arguments about femininity. These studies are dominated by the literary analysis of a work. Modern scientists bring the interpretation of the dramas to the intertextual level and turn to extra textual parameters that affect a female image formation.
Key words and phrases: драма, женский образ, классификация образов, рецепция, Ф. Шиллер, drama, female image, classification of images, reception, F. Schiller
