Abstract. The article discusses the features of the conditions for a compliment implementation in the Russian and German speech cultures. Particular attention is paid to the demonstration of the results of a survey with native speakers of both the languages devoted to the perception of the evaluated features, hierarchical interactions during a compliment expression, as well as a response to this type of evaluation. Compliment as an evaluative category is widespread in different cultures, so the universal and cultural features of its implementation are important for a wide range of scientific research: pragmatic linguistics, sociolinguistics, intercultural communication, psycholinguistics and many others.
