Abstract. The paper aims to identify and differentiate the meanings of boundedness/unboundedness in semantic structure of the Yakut polysemantic verb бар- ("to go, to leave"). Scientific originality of the research lies in the fact that for the first time in the Yakut linguistics, the author suggests a classification of the verb meanings according to the degree of the boundedness feature manifestation in comparison with other lexico-semantic groups of verbs. The findings indicate that the dominant semantic meaning of the Yakut verb under study is the bound meaning "to leave" which emphasizes the initial phase of progressive motion. This semantics is preserved in 10 figurative meanings and 5 secondary meanings. The author shows that the unbound meaning "to go" is largely determined by the context, whereas the bound meaning is less contextually determined.
