Abstract. The paper aims to identify the basic means of neologism formation in the modern Udmurt language. The author examines structural and word-formative peculiarities of neologisms-nouns. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the researcher introduces new factual material into scientific circulation, which has not been previously subjected to a linguistic analysis. The conducted research allows concluding that the basic means of neologism formation include stem composition, suffixation, non-affixal word formation, lexico-semantic word formation. Some terms are calques formed by word-for-word translation of the Russian words.
