Abstract. The article considers linguistic representation of male and female images in L. Petrushevskaya’s plays. The researchers’ attention is focused on analysing male and female images (156 totally in more than 40 works) that determine poetics of the authoress’s dramaturgic texts. The paper justifies relevance of the gender approach to studying a fiction text, provides statistical data on the number of images (male and female) in the writer’s works, and identifies the images that dominate in a certain play. The author’s means of unaffected and objective presentation of male and female images are specified. Gender peculiarities of the heroes’ perception of each other in artistic space of the female writer are analysed. The conclusions are made about specificity of male and female images in women’s prose.
