Problems of Lexicographical Description of the Altai German Dialects

Abstract. The article examines the problems of lexicographical description of the German island dialects in Russia. The conducted research allows concluding that the mixed nature of dialects, variability of pronunciation and meaning of lexical units of the closely related dialects, absence of written form and functioning in the foreign-language environment require new approaches to systematization and description of vocabulary. The authors analyse experience of domestic and foreign dialect lexicographers with a view to develop methodological approaches to studying the German island dialects.
