Abstract. The article analyses peculiarities of translating the Russian everyday realia in the English versions of A. P. Chekhov’s play "The Cherry Orchard". The identified lexical units are classified into thematic groups; ways to translate them into English are analysed. The research objective includes identifying the techniques to transfer cultural and everyday realia while translating the Russian fiction text into English. The findings indicate that translators use different techniques and national cultural colour is often lost.
