Some Prosodic Features of Speech of the Modern British Youth Representatives

Abstract. The study aims to identify prosodic features of the speech produced by representatives of the modern British youth. The article presents results of auditory and acoustic analyses, identifies general tendencies in the modern British youth’s speech. Scientific novelty of the research lies in taking the comprehensive approach to studying prosodic features of the speech produced by representatives of the modern British youth, taking into account sociocultural factors, as well as in painting a phonetic portrait of a representative of the modern British youth. As a result, consistent prosodic features of the speech produced by the modern British youth were identified and fashionable tendencies in pronunciation were proved to be present.
