Abstract. The purpose of the study is to determine the features characterising homeland mythologization in the autobiographical novel "The Past Is Not a Dream" (Sw. Det g?ngna ?r inte en dr?m) by the modern Swedish author of the Greek origin Th. Kallifatides. Scientific novelty of the study lies in approaching the modern Swedish literature from the standpoint of the postcolonial concept IMAGINARY HOMELAND. As a result, it is proved that the ancient Greek mythology in the novel chosen for the analysis becomes a foundation and material for creating a modern myth about an individual’s national identity belonging to "great narratives" of the past.
