Thematic Variability of Humorous Lexicon during the Coronavirus Pandemic

Abstract. The study aims to determine the thematic scope of the Russian humorous lexicon during the coronavirus pandemic. Scientific originality of the paper lies in the investigation of the object of the humorous units, which are a part of the speech behaviour strategy transferring national-comic world perception, as well as the main ways of their formation. As a result, the researchers have classified the humorous lexicon into ten groups (names of the types of people; pastime and work; place of living; diseases and health; verbs naming processes associated with the disease during the pandemic; new objects; scientific areas; drinks and food; mood; transformed set expressions) and have analysed the typical ways of word formation of the humorous lexicon.
