STUDYING THE ORIGIN AND ESSENCE OF GREEK CONCEPTION OF BARBARISMIN MODERN HISTORIOGRAPHY

Abstract. The article reveals the questions of studying Greek-Barbarian polarization in ancient world in the works of modern researchers and scientists. The problems of the etymology of the term barbarian, the issues of the barbarian image origin in Greek literary tradition and the formation of Greek ethnic self-consciousness are tackled. The analysis of the origin of Greek conception of barbarism is given. This range of problems is touched trough pan-Hellenism ideology.
