Abstract. The author considers the key aspects of the Basque autonomous police Ertzaintza, covering some structural features of this agency, the specificity of the anti-radical Basque nationalist organizations, as well as its effectiveness in maintaining public order and security in the Basque Country, and pays particular attention to the interaction between Ertzaintza and the population of the autonomous community and to the analysis of such cooperation effectiveness.
