SPECIFICITY OF TEACHING STAFF TRAINING FOR NON-RUSSIAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE XIX CENTURY (BY THE MATERIALS OF ORENBURG EDUCATIONAL DISTRICT)

Abstract. The article analyzes the Russian state’s policy to enhance ideological and cultural influence on non-Russian nationalities by establishing Orthodox missionary schools taking into account national traditions, customs and lifestyle. The author examines experience of teaching staff training for non-Russian elementary schools at special educational institutions similar to teacher training schools, which were established in accordance with the "Rules on Measures to Educate non-Russians" that were issued on the 26th of March 1870.
