PHENOMENOLOGICAL METHOD AS A WAY TO STUDY FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS’ ADAPTATION PROCESS AT THE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY

Abstract. The article is devoted to the problem of qualitative research methods and the possibility of their application to examine first-year students’ emotional and mental sphere at the initial stage of attending the university. The paper shows the relevance and informative value of such qualitative research method as a phenomenological one that helps to learn and analyse individuals’ feelings and emotions, as well as the practice gained by them after experienced emotions. The results of the study make it possible to give recommendations to schools’ and universities’ administrative staff on improving vocational-guidance work carried out with high school students, as well as to draw parents’ attention to their children’s psychological preparation to study at the university.
