The Content and Methodological Aspect of Performing Competence Formation in a Future Music Teacher

Abstract. The paper analyses certain aspects of future music teachers’ professional training. The purpose of the research is to present the content and methodological aspect of performing competence formation in fu¬ture music teachers in the process of undergraduate students’ musical and instrumental training. In the course of the research, the scientific-theoretical and methodological literature on the issues of higher musical and pedagogical education is considered and analysed. The paper provides insight into the concept of "a music teacher’s performing competence", which is a set of mutually integrated components: axiological, productive and technological, reflexive. Performing competence formation in pedagogical university students is considered as a necessary component of professional skills formation; the fostering of piano performance-intonation culture is seen as a fundamental component of a music teacher’s performing competence. Scientific novelty of the research lies in developing diagnostic tools for determining the level of performing competence achieved by future music teachers in the process of piano performance-intonation. As a result, it has been proved that performing competence formation is the basis of a future music teacher’s professional culture.
