Abstract. The article analyses ornaments on the Russinian women’s festive costumes. The authors emphasize that the colour palette and ornament elements vary among different groups of the Russinians depending on their residence area, cultural relations and craftsmen’s creative self-realization. Meanwhile, there exist original features peculiar to this particular culture. The authors compare the Russinian ornaments with the Ukrainian, Russian, Hutsul and Finno-Ugric ones - the latter are typical of the Hungarian traditional culture. Though the colour palettes and certain elements of the ornament are similar, a comparative analysis has identified some typical features peculiar for the Russinian decorative and applied art. The findings allow concluding that the analysed ornament represents national, historical and cultural identity.
