V. Yankelevich’s Conception of Death: The Vision from the Living World

Abstract. The article is devoted to analysing V. Yankelevich’s philosophy of death represented as thanatosophy structured according to three forms of time and three viewpoints (Me, You and He). The researchers’ attention is focused on the first stage - "death through the eyes of the living", which determines the necessity to examine such problems as the means to study death, death essence, the meaning of life and death, correlation of knowledge and power over death. Analysing specificity of death, the authors tackle the "right to die" problem and argue that V. Yankelevich’s unambiguous approach is unilateral.
