Abstract. The paper aims to reveal specificity of traditional gender role realization by the modern Udmurt males depending on their value orientations. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that relying on the survey results, the authors for the first time describe views of the Udmurt males of different age groups on the following issues: transformation of values and gender ideals, process of their self-realization in essential social roles, self-analysis and reflection on this subject. The conducted research allows concluding that traditional gender roles are still relevant for the males, they are considered as a model of masculinity, but the Udmurts of different age groups choose their own ways to implement them.
