N. F. Annensky - Social and Political Figure of Liberal Narodnik Movement

Abstract. For the first time, the article provides a comprehensive biographical survey of Nikolai Feodorovich Annensky (1843-1912) - an outstanding representative of the moderate Narodnik movement of the last third of the XIX - the beginning of the XX century. The paper describes Annensky’s achievements in the spheres of professional (zemstvo statistics), publicistic and organizational (social and political) activity. It is shown that, having gained a well-deserved ethical reputation in democratic circles, Annensky came out as a mediator between old and new generations of the Narodniks.
