Religious Education as a Form of Socialization: Problem of Influence of Consumer Society’s Values on Teaching Orthodox Culture

Abstract. The article analyses the influence of consumer society on students and teachers. Originality of the study lies in the fact that the problem of religious education is considered in the context of consumerization of education. The research objective is to trace the influence of consumer society’s values on continuity of the Orthodox spiritual tradition. This comprehensive objective includes the following conceptual tasks: studying the influence of consumer society on educational sphere; studying the influence of consumer values on contemporary parochial life; identifying the influence of consumer society on teaching the basics of Orthodox culture within the subject area "The Basics of Spiritual and Moral Culture of the Peoples of Russia".
