Experience of Organizing Promotion and Graduation Exams in Schools of the Central Black Earth Region in 1932/33 Academic Year

Abstract. The paper considers organization and conduct of the first promotion and graduation exams in the Soviet school history. Scientific novelty of the article lies in the fact that relying on previously unknown archival materials, the author for the first time examines organization of the knowledge assessment procedure within the framework of the Soviet school reform of the beginning of the 1930s. The researcher analyzes its legislative framework, specifics of preparation and implementation. The findings indicate that introducing exams into educational practice contributed to improving the educational process quality in schools of the Central Black Earth region and analysis of the first experience with their introduction promoted further development of positive trends in education.
