A. V. Khvastunova’s and A. V. Fonvizin’s Graphical Works in the Context of the Miriskusniks’ Artistic Tradition: Comparative Analysis

Abstract. The paper aims to identify similarities and differences between A. V. Khvastunova’s ink and gouache paintings of the XXI century and watercolours of the famous domestic painter A. V. Fonvizin (1883-1973) in the context of the Miriskusniks’ (members of the artistic movement "Mir Iskusstva" (1898-1927)) creative achievements. The article reveals specificity of the Miriskusniks’ pictorial language based on the Art Nouveau aesthetics. Scientific originality of the study involves identifying influence of the Miriskusniks’ artistic tradition on the modern domestic art. Relying on the conducted analysis, the researcher concludes that A. V. Fonvizin’s watercolours are meditative by nature, with features of aestheticism typical of the "Mir Iskusstva" style, whereas lively figurativeness of Khvastunova’s paintings makes aestheticism more energetic.
