Cult Objects of Oroqen People in China

Abstract. The paper aims to identify meaningful characteristics and specific features of cult objects of Oroqen people in Northeast China. The authors consider a poorly investigated problem, analyze worldview conceptions and religious cults of China’s Oroqen people, and herein lies scientific originality of the study. The findings are as follows: Oroqen people of trans-border northern Manchuria region worshipped numerous deities; naturalistic and animal cults influenced considerably the formation of Oroqen religious and mythological worldview. The conclusion is made that Oroqen people’s cults represent the conceptions of Tungusic peoples on interrelation between humans and spirits of the elements.
