Organization and Activity of Statistical Institutions in Turgai Region of the Russian Empire in the Second Half of the XIX - at the Beginning of the XX Century

Abstract. The research objectives are as follows: to reveal specificity of organization and activity of Turgai statistical committee and to identify its role in statistical activities and in the regional sociocultural studies. Scientific originality of the paper involves a comprehensive representation of Turgai regional statistical committee and its activities under the conditions of ethnic regions integration into the Russian Empire. The conducted research allows concluding that the process of provincial statistics formation had its own specificity, development of regional statistical offices laid foundation for a unified statistical system.
