Issues of Trade Development in Bashkiria in 1947 - the 1950s

Abstract. The study aims to determine the main issues in the process of trade development in Bashkiria after transition from rationing to open trade. Scientific novelty of the study lies in the fact that the researcher conducted a comprehensive analysis of the main shortcomings and violations in state and cooperative trading organisations during the monetary reform of 1947, basing it on archival documents. The study identified a set of objective limitations in trade development, most of which were characteristic of the planned economy of the Soviet Union. Evaluation of effectiveness of the measures taken by the Ministry of Trade and aimed at eliminating the identified shortcomings is carried out. It is proved that the whole set of issues in trade development in Bashkiria could not stop sustained growth of commodity turnover volume.
