Submitted: 26.05.2021
Abstract. The article deals with an analysis of the self-concept and the issues of identification and self-identification formation in social communication space. The purpose of the study is to determine features of personal identity construction in the context of the narrative about oneself. Novelty of the study lies in the fact that the author, assessing features of personal identification, proceeds from the logic of the existential-narrative approach, justifying its methodological effectiveness. A brief overview of the main theories of social communication is provided. The article also examines the issue of stable and unstable self-narratives in the context of the discursive space of the modern society. The result of the study amounts to highlighting the process of autobiography writing as the main form of self-narrative constructing; assessing structural elements and formation stages of autobiography writing; as well as detecting the factors that affect the shape of unstable self-narratives in the modern social communicative environment.
