Abstract. The article analyses the peculiarities of translating the means expressing multiplicativity and identifies their role in the formation of the rhythmic pattern of L. N. Tolstoy’s works. Repeated multiplicative actions and peculiarities of their translation into Tatar are examined. For the first time, multiplicativity is considered from the viewpoint of its potential in the reconstruction of the novel’s rhythmic pattern and acoustical background. The conclusion is made that when translating into Tatar, reduplicated lexico-grammatical word-forms are efficient means to achieve lexical and phonetic equivalence.
Key words and phrases: ритмический рисунок, редуплицированная форма, мультипликативность, фонетический аспект, звуковой фон произведения, rhythmic pattern, reduplicated form, multiplicativity, phonetic aspect, novel’s acoustical background
