Abstract. The article for the first time analyses complicated tropes of A. Akhmatova’s poetical collection "Reed". Relying on N. V. Pavlovich’s methodology for identifying images paradigms, the researcher considers figurativeness of the book that played a crucial role in A. Akhmatova’s creative work. Some poems are dedicated to the poet, a historical figure or Akhmatova’s close one, others are focused on poetical creation properly. It is shown that the tropes appear only in poems with a focus on poetical creation. Akhmatova tries to present creative manner of the depicted poet as accurately as possible.
