Conditions of Text Interpretation (by the Material of the French Language)

Abstract. The aim of the article is to identify conditions essential to comprehensive understanding of literary text as a complex multi-coded entity. As such conditions the author considers a reader’s encyclopaedic knowledge, social-ideolectal attitudes and different interpretation strategies dependent on the knowledge systems engaged in the analysis, as well as various changes in the semantics of lexical units influenced by the context of a literary work. Scientific novelty of the study lies in the chosen approach to the analysis, namely in comprehensive consideration of the aforementioned conditions. The attained results have demonstrated that the meaning of literary text is not pre-determined by default, one must take into account a full spectrum of factors while deducting it.
