Abstract. The article analyses realization of the theme of power in the vampire novel "Kindrat. Blood Brothers" by A. Yu. Pekhov, E. A. Bychkova, N. V. Turchaninova. The research methodology includes sociological, psychological methods, the motive analysis method. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the researcher abandons the traditional approach, in which a vampire is considered exclusively as a lover-boy, and focuses her attention on revealing the image of a vampire-ruler. The conclusion is made that the writers adopt the humanistic view: they propose a conception of solidarity of vampires and human beings and believe that it’s a better way to save the world from power-seeking vampires. This conception is in tune with the fairy-tale worldview, in which the world is seen as one big family, so there is no place for evil and hatred.
