Green Colour Symbolism in Phraseological Worldview: Comparative Aspect (by the Material of the Russian, English, German and Italian Languages)

Abstract. The paper aims to reveal symbolic meaning of green colour in the Russian, English, German and Italian phraseology. The article provides a comparative study of the Russian, English, German and Italian phraseological units with the component - colour term "green", which constitutes scientific originality of the research. The analysis of the linguistic material has allowed the authors to systematize and classify the Russian, English, German and Italian phraseological units with the component - colour term "green" and to describe their semantic meanings (nature and environment; love for plants; youth; freshness and liveliness; permission; negative emotions; jealousy/envy; fatigue/ill-being; money; fortune).
