Abstract. The paper aims to identify the role of the oral poetical tradition in Grigory Chinkov’s artistic creative work at the early stage of the Evenk literature formation. The article examines Chinkov’s poetical work "Sulakichan" (1940), which has not been previously investigated in domestic literary criticism. Scientific originality of the study involves justification of the proposed hypothesis that the newly written Evenk literature of the beginning of the XX century developed on the basis of folkloric traditions. The conclusion is made that the creative approach to interpreting the Evenk myths, legends and songs allowed Grigory Chinkov to create an original poetical work in his native language.
