Evolution of Views as a Form of Personage Actualization in Jane Austen’s Stylistics (by the Material of the Novel "Pride and Prejudice")

Abstract. The article analyses evolution of views as an implicit form of a personage actualization in Jane Austen’s novel "Pride and Prejudice". Scientific originality of the paper lies in the fact that for the first time in domestic Jane Austen studies, the researcher considers such a linguo-stylistic technique as evolution in personages’ views. The conducted analysis allows concluding that Austen’s realism is not about "realistic representation of reality" in general, but about concrete reality, in which a personage realistic actualization occurs due to existence of several different viewpoints. Among the basic functions of a personage’s viewpoint, the researcher identifies characterological and evaluative ones.
Key words and phrases: смена точек зрения как лингвистический прием, актуализация персонажей, роман "Гордость и предубеждение" Джейн Остен, характерологическая функция, оценочная функция, evolution of views as linguistic technique, personage actualization, Jane Austen’s novel "Pride and Prejudice", characterological function, evaluative function
