Abstract. The aim of the study is to identify the national and cultural features of the euphemistic nomination of a person’s physical and mental characteristics using the Russian and English phraseological euphemisms. The article is the first to carry out a comparative analysis of the national and cultural aspect of nominating the extra-linguistic realia of one of the phraseo-semantic groups with anthropocentric orientation, which indicates the scientific originality of the research. As a result of the analysis, isomorphic and allomorphic characteristics of the euphemistic nomination of physical and mental processes and phenomena of human life in two compared languages were revealed. It is proved that the national and cultural features of the life in the countries of the Russian and English language speakers and the features of their mentality underlie the euphemistic nomination of a person’s physical and mental characteristics with the help of phraseological euphemisms.
