Difficulties in Translating Road-Engineering Texts from Russian into English/German Based on Materials from Road Builders’ Websites

Abstract. The paper aims to identify difficulties in translating road-engineering texts from Russian into English and German based on materials from road-building companies’ websites. It considers grammar-, vocabulary- and style-related difficulties in multilingual translation. Scientific originality of the study involves a comprehensive analysis of difficulties when translating road-engineering texts from road-building companies’ websites. The research findings are as follows: the authors propose a classification of road-engineering terminology according to a specific area of professional activities, analyze highly specialized road-engineering terms and identify the frequency of terms possessing particular morphological structure.
