Basic Cognitive Features of Concept PUBLIC OPINION in Mind of Modern Russian Language Speakers

Abstract. The paper aims to describe the basic cognitive features of the concept PUBLIC OPINION relevant for the mind of the modern Russian language speakers. The scientific originality of the research is determined by the choice of its subject: the content of the basic layer of the analyzed concept is studied in the linguistic aspect, lexical objectification of the concept in the modern Russian language becomes a subject of study. The article describes six cognitive features of the analyzed concept, three of them have been revealed during the cognitive interpretation of the results of the dictionary data analysis and verified during the processing of the results of a psycholinguistic experiment. As a result, the conducted experiment has allowed revealing and describing three more basic cognitive features of the analyzed concept, as well as identifying the specificity of the psychologically real meaning of its name.
