Speech Act "Oath" in Everyday Communication: Communicative-Semantic, Typological, Axiological and Gender Aspects

Abstract. The article analyzes the peculiarities of speech act "oath" functioning in everyday communication. Scientific originality of the study is conditioned by the fact that speech act "oath" is considered from a cognitive-communicative viewpoint. Relying on the conducted analysis, the researcher identifies the correlation of explicit performative formulas and speech formulas of self-damnation, oaths-representatives and oaths-commissives, reveals gender differences in their usage, describes vindictive component of a speech act "oath". The research findings are as follows: the author reveals communicative-semantic nature of speech acts "oath", determines typological and communicative-semantic features of such statements, describes value component of a speech act under study, considers its gender aspect.
