Abstract. The purpose of the study is to determine experimentally trends affecting the eco-friendliness/eco-unfriendliness of the regional media space. The paper conducts a directed associative experiment, statistically determines the emotional impact of headlines of news media texts, identifies invariant trends in the formation of the regional media space over the period from 2017 to 2020. Scientific novelty of the study lies in conducting a comprehensive analysis of trends underlying the formation of the regional media space in the aspect of ecolinguistics. As a result, it has been proved that the invariant process of media space formation is an emergent one. The study has shown that the media space of the Orenburg region is characterised as eco-friendly taking into account the dual nature of communication (social and biological).
