Features of Translating Colour Terms, Zoonyms and Lacunae from R. Bradbury’s Novel "Fahrenheit 451" from English into Russian

Abstract. The study aims to compare translation of colour terms, zoonyms and lacunae from R. Bradbury’s novel "Fahrenheit 451" as interpreted by T. N. Shinkar and V. T. Babenko. Scientific novelty of the research lies in studying and carrying out a comparative analysis of the methods used for translation of colour terms, zoonyms and lacunae, which make up the linguistic worldview of the novel, in interpretations by T. N. Shinkar and V. T. Babenko, taking into account different generations, the translators’ experience, technological advancements. This is the first time that R. Bradbury’s novel "Fahrenheit 451" is studied in such an aspect. The results of the study have shown that V. T. Babenko’s version of translation is the closest to the original, he has managed to convey the message and emotional sentiment of the work more effectively. The analysis of the translations helped the researchers to identify the ideas refracted through the lens of the author’s perception.
