Lexico-Semantic Field ANGER in the English Language

Abstract. The paper aims to reveal peculiarities of the ‘anger’ emotion verbalization in the English language. To achieve this research objective, the authors reveal content of the lexico-semantic field ANGER. The research tasks are as follows: to provide an etymological and definitional analysis of the lexeme ‘anger’, to explore the synonymic row with the dominant ‘anger’, to examine the lexico-semantic field ANGER. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the English lexical units verbalizing the emotion ‘anger’ are subdivided into lexico-semantic groups. The research findings are as follows: the authors reveal etymological characteristics of the lexeme ‘anger’, explore the synonymic row with the dominant ‘anger’, analyse the lexico-semantic field ANGER which includes 63 lexical units.
