Borrowing as Colloqualization Source in the Modern German Language

Abstract. The research objective is as follows: to identify borrowings role in colloqualization of the German language of the end of the XX - the beginning of the XXI century. The article examines causes of colloquialisms borrowing; the borrowed colloquialisms are analyzed taking into account diaphasic, diastratic and thematic aspects. Scientific originality of the paper involves the comprehensive approach to studying newly appeared borrowings taking into account language variability and thematic affiliation of linguistic units. The findings allow concluding that the borrowed vocabulary is scarcely represented in the German colloquial speech and basically includes the English jargonisms and hybrids containing autochthonic and borrowed elements.
