Abstract. The purpose of the study is to identify factors that reduce the effectiveness of written business speech based on the analysis of regional and federal official texts. The paper examines the features of modern business discourse and speech behaviour of native speakers of the Russian language in the official environment, analyses the causes of communicative failures and typical mistakes made in texts of the official style. Scientific novelty of the study lies in carrying out a comprehensive analysis of texts produced by organisations of the Siberian Region and Federal Laws of the Russian Federation. As a result, it has been proved that speech errors, being a key factor in the destructive dialogue of communicants, significantly reduce the quality of business interaction between the senders and recipients of information both at the regional and federal levels.
