Abstract. The aim of the study is to identify the possibilities of matrix modelling of translation activity based on modern trends in translation science. The article analyses the essence of the cognitive-activity approach in modern translation studies which defines a new perspective of considering the relationship between translation and a cognitive component taking into account both internal and external factors that form the translator’s cognitive space. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the identification of translation activity characteristics which formed a basis of an integrated matrix model. As a result, the components of the integrated model architectonics have been identified including cognitive and metacognitive components, competencies, external resources and interaction.
