Abstract. The article discusses the features of adventurous and magical discourse by the example of the novel "Metamorphoses, or The Golden Ass" by Lucius Apuleius. The aim of the study is to analyse the discursive models of the protagonist (also in a zoomorphic image) and other persons. The scientific novelty lies in the identification of algorithms for the development of the novel plot taking into account the evolution of the protagonist’s actions. The multipolar discourse of the novel is extensively endowed with intertextual and interdisciplinary data. As the results of a comparative analysis of the participants’ speeches and thoughts in the events of the novel have shown, the reality of their lives is inseparable from religious consciousness, and the author, combining adventures with magic, fully and vividly reflected both the mores and customs of the Roman society contemporary to him and artistic tastes and interests of the public of his time.
