Comparative Analysis of Translating Socio-Cultural Component of the English Literary Text into the Russian Language (by the Example of Ch. P. Snow’s Novel "Corridors of Power")

Abstract. The aim of the study is to reveal the essence of the "secondary language situation" in the analysis of the socio-cultural adaptation of the text of Ch. P. Snow’s novel "Corridors of Power" while translating it into the Russian language and the expediency of the linguo-cultural characteristics of the text to achieve the adequacy of its translation. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that for the first time the socio-cultural component of the literary professionally marked text (the sphere of public administration in England) has been studied and its thematic classification has been carried out; the cases of inconsistency of the author’s text with reality and, as a result, translation errors have been revealed. As a result, the validity of the adaptive stage of translation and the expediency of the linguo-cultural characteristics of the text at the stage of its interpretation are confirmed.
