Gender-Neutral Language in the University Environment in Germany

Abstract. The aim of the study is to determine the features of using gender-neutral units by the German universities, based on the official pages of the oldest educational institutions. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that, unlike a number of works devoted to general, often theoretical, issues of gender problematics in various languages, the study shows how and in what way the strategies of gender neutrality of the German language are implemented in the university environment in practice. As a result, it has been proved that the German language in the university environment tends to gender neutrality. Along with the feminization of language units, language neutralization is actively used, in which gender markers are completely erased.
Key words and phrases: гендерно-нейтральный язык, университетская среда, феминистское направление, феминизация языка, языковая нейтрализация, gender-neutral language, university environment, feminist direction, language feminization, language neutralization
