Abstract. The article considers the methodology of organizing and conducting laboratory works of the course "Oral folk art" taking into account the future professional activity of the teacher of the Russian language and literature. Possible ways of organizing practical classes in the form of laboratory work, based on the unity of educational and exploratory search, are presented. It is proved that the organization of practical classes contributes to the formation of students' competencies related to the development of a research skill in the field of philology.
